england turned on it's finest spring weather...
lunch in the garden kinda weather...
we have had two days of sun-kissed gorgeous kids racing around...
all the doors thrown open...
& warm air filling the house...
we went to horse riding & football in the sunshine...
& lay on blankets reading in the garden...
i went *walking*...
the keep-fit-get-out-in-it kinda walking...
& at last i felt spring had truly arrived...

the next arrival...now we have the weather sorted...
is my brother & his beautiful family in the morning...
from the beaches of oz to the english countryside...
we've been making all sorts of things for their arrival...
bunting...
messages on blackboards...
beds...
&
err...another treasure chest
according to little miss.audrey one can never have too many treasure chests...
&
when one is counting the hours till one's cousins arrive...
{& from australia- that's an endless amount of hours & waiting!}...
a little girl needs to be occupied create....

this is no golden plastic inspired treasure chest...
the girl has style...
"i just need a shoe box mummy & your material all cut up into little pieces ok?"
she chose the fabric...& i dutifully cut...
she did the gluing...& i did the passing...
"i love it when you pass me stuff mummy..."
i did the giggling...& she concentrated hard...
when you're five & your fingers are gluey & your concentrating - life is lovely!

needless to say...i now have my *eye* on a very gorgeous vintage fabric treasure chest...
i could see that in my sewing room...
however... i don't think she sees it in my sewing room ...
there's been too much work in this to just *give it* away...even to her mama...
i keep a cupboard full of art/craft *bits* for the kids...
& i have to say...this is a true treasure made from nothing...
we had a gorgeous time cutting & gluing it in the sun...
& the cousins "are just a little bit closer now" apparently...

and as usual...one of my kiddos managed to teach me another lesson...
'life is better random'
whilst i would have lined the squares up...
& chosen colours with the primary thought being, to not have any two colours the same near one another...
audrey sang...& grabbed fabric...& glued over & under...
she watched birds in the garden & slapped the fabric on the box...
she scratched her legs...& kissed the cat...& glued again...
it was a random hour making a random treasure chest...
& i loved watching her create it without it necessarily being the whole of her focus...
kids are like that aren't they...
she made me love her even more...

if you have a shoe box
&
fabric scraps
&
want to learn "that life is better random"
then go sit in the sun with someone
& sing & glue
~~~
...it truly is one of the lovely moments in life...
~~~

hope you all had a wonderful weekend
thankyou for all your thoughts & comments last week
it all makes me smile bigger!
one more sleep!!!
