uggies on...teapot in hand...
let's catch up...virtual coffee...frost & all...
it's tuesday...so you take the regular beloved pink chair...pop your feet up on the pouf & lets catch up...
it's still b****y freezing here...maybe it's an aussie thing...
maybe i'm just in need of some heat...sun...& sand between the toes...
so this week i'm going to be harping on about the little hot spots in my english day...

if we were really catching up...uggies on...teapot brewing...
you may well ask about the shells strewn all over this big old english country house...
they remind us of home...
& travels abroad...
audrey uses them in her story telling...
her littlest pet shop figurines eat most meals out of them...
for me...particularly at this time of year in old blighty...they remind me of sunshine...
little beautiful shapes of sunshine...

if you are sharing this virtual coffee with me from somewhere still in the throws of winter...
you will totally understand my current obsession with moving 'round the house...
following the fall of the sun...there's no heat...at the moment it's a *light* thing...
an english documentary today commented on this having been the coldest english winter in 100 years...
even though we had many days of gorgeous brilliant sunlight...
for an aussie gal used to a sunscreen nose...sandy feet...& salty days...
the simple quiet of a freezing day of snow...& clear beautiful sunlight was nothing short of heaven...
heaven in our own backyard...

but now that the snow has gone...& the sun still has no warmth...today i'm a little over it all...
so in lieu of a long hot week swimming in the maldives...i'm acting as though spring is just around the corner & i'm cleaning out cupboards & drawers like a woman posessed!
if we were really having coffee today...
you'd probably leave this house with a big ol' bag of goodies under your arm...
i'm very ruthless when i need to be...
something i've loved i can suddenly desperately need to pass on...
something the hubster or the kiddos still love...i can also desperately need to pass on...!
do you ever hit that point...
organisation won't bring me any closer to warmer weather but it will get me rolling positively into this new year towards spring...!

if we were really sharing a big lovely pot of tea in my front sitting room...
the one that catches all the light through it's bay windows...
i would ask you how your year was going so far...
resolutions aren't really my thing...but maybe they're yours...
maybe you'd talk me into having a few for 2011...
maybe i could take over some of yours...
you know...if you made your list a little long...
one of the loveliest new years resolutions i came across was from my gorgeous friend laura who writes the blog *a place for tea*...
she is simply aiming to *smile every morning*...
to remember the small moments before her day begins...
how delightfully positive & inspirational is that...!

if we were really reaching the bottom of the pot here in my sitting room...
maybe i'd think about rolling with the seasons again...
maybe if you're visiting from somewhere warm...
& are wearing the spare pair of guest uggies i found for you, with your sun frock...
you'd remind me of the travels i am planning on this side of the globe this year...
anything to take my mind off the long dark january days of an english winter...
that's why i am spending a ridiculous amount of time visiting my southern hemisphere bloggy friends...
like the inspirational lovliness that is sarah in her beach cottage, a stones throw from our beach house back in sydney...
i just sit & stare at the light in their pictures...

& if we were really sitting in this treasured pocket of front room sunshine & light together...
you'd not go to the kitchen to make another pot...
you'd stay right where you are...
on the gorgeous pink chair with a magazine, or maybe one of my books, for a while...
& i'd sit near you...
both reading quietly till the kiddos needing collecting...the cat feeding...the homework doing...
the dinner serving & the football run done...
hows that sound?

if we'd really caught up this morning
i'd say stay as long as you like
i'm going to fold fabric
you know sort out my sewing studio
start of the new year & all
spring months away & all just round the corner & all
i'll pop us on another pot
sprinkle the tray with shells
& we can pretend we're somewhere warm...
